How to Prepare Your Home for HVAC Installation

lovely-house-and-wide-driveway

Scheduling an HVAC installation in Mandeville, LA is an exciting step toward a more comfortable and efficient home. Whether you’re replacing an old air conditioner, upgrading to a new heat pump, or installing a furnace for reliable heating, our expert team handles every step of the process—from removing the old system to bringing in and connecting the new one.

We’ll test your equipment, walk you through how to use it, and leave your home tidy before we go. But to make installation day go as smoothly and quickly as possible, there are a few things you can do ahead of time to prepare your home.

Choose the Best Door for Entry

Before our team arrives, take a moment to think about which door we should use to bring equipment in and out. HVAC units can be large and heavy, so it’s best to select a door with plenty of clearance. Ideally, choose one that opens close to where the truck will park and that has a wide, straight path inside. Let us know which entrance you prefer, and we’ll plan accordingly.

Clear the Path Outside

If we’re installing an air conditioner or heat pump, we’ll need access to the outdoor unit’s location. Please ensure there’s a clear path from where our truck will park to both your chosen entrance and the spot outside where the unit will be placed. Move vehicles out of the driveway, tidy up yard tools or toys, and trim back any overgrown shrubs near the installation site. This will help us maneuver equipment safely and efficiently.

Clear the Path Inside

Inside your home, we’ll also need to move equipment to your furnace or indoor air handler. Take time to clear hallways, stairways, and doorways of any clutter or obstacles. Move furniture, rugs, or decorations that might be in the way so we can carry equipment through without risk of damage. This not only saves time but also protects your belongings.

Open Space Around the Unit

Your new HVAC system needs room to breathe—literally. Be sure the area around your existing furnace or indoor unit is cleared out before we arrive. Boxes, storage bins, or other items stacked nearby should be relocated so our installers can access the system easily. Having a clean, open space helps us work more efficiently and ensures nothing gets in the way of your installation.

Secure Pets for the Day

We know pets are part of the family, but installation day isn’t the best time for them to be underfoot. For their safety and ours, please plan to keep pets in a separate part of the home or arrange for them to be out of the house entirely during the installation. This prevents accidents and ensures your furry friends stay comfortable and stress-free while we work.

Relax and Enjoy

A little preparation goes a long way in making your HVAC installation smooth and stress-free. By clearing paths, opening up work areas, and securing pets, you’ll help our expert team focus on what we do best—installing your new heating or cooling system with care and precision. Before you know it, your home will be equipped with a reliable, efficient HVAC system ready to keep your family comfortable for years to come.
